In the midst of Covid-19 we were asked to return to provide production for I Am Dance Company's Spring Recital. With a last minute venue change a lighting and audio package was created to cover the new venue and provide lighting for the performers. We were relocated from a traditional performance hall and stage plan to a new venue with no stage area. Performers would now be ground level with spectators bringing a new challenge to site lines and Audio coverage. Truss totems with LED par fixtures topped with CMY moving head fixtures were located to the back and sides of the performance area to add color washes and aerial effects. A front hung truss provided key lighting and and additional color washes with moving Wash fixtures. Audio was covered using EAW RSX208L line arrays for the balcony and rear of the room with RSX129 point source providing front fills on top of RSX218 Sub packages. RSX12m monitors provided playback audio for performers across the performance apron. Crown boundary mics provided across the apron helped to amplify performers footwork during performances.

I A.M. Dance Company held their third end of year dance recital in a 1400 Seating Capacity auditorium that included a 60ft wide and 40ft deep performance area. Previous years dancers performing in tap and clog routines were drowned out by the accompanying music being provided. Our task was to provide sound reinforcement and FOH mixing in support of the musical accompaniment and allow performers to be heard.
This was accomplished using Midas console and digital stage box package in combination with Crown PCC-160 boundary mics spaced strategically across the stage apron to pick up performers steps as needed. Monitor feeds were also supplied to allow dancers to have direct audio for their performance. A talk back system was also deployed across the digital infrastructure to allow communication between the stage manager and DJ to coordinate performances. A second monitor feed was also provided in conjunction with video to a second multipurpose room being used as a dressing space to allow performers to see what was occurring in the main auditorium. |
